Admission will be based on a school-readiness report from the parent issued by a psychologist or therapist who is qualified to do a school readiness test.
Grade 1
The parent is compelled to enroll his/her child from the first school day of the year in which such a child reaches the age of 7 years (Article 3 (1) of the SA School Act). The admission age of a learner to attend Grade 1, in a public school is age 5 turning 6 years (before 30 June) must be accompanied by a school readiness test. The best interest of the learner must be the most important consideration for earlier admission of a child and not the best interest of the parent.
