INTRODUCTION
The purpose of rules in a school is to make the learner feel safe and maintain order. The discipline and conscientiousness of the learners in our school is important to us because it lays the foundation for good education and teaching. Regarding the compliance with school rules, the following norm must always apply; DO NOT DO TO OTHERS THAT YOU DO NOT WANT DONE TO YOURSELF
SCHOOL RULES
Schoolgrounds, buildings
The schoolgrounds, buildings and equipment must be handled and treated with respect.
Littering is prohibited.
No ball playing is allowed in or near buildings.
No learner is allowed between parked cars.
No learner is allowed in the gardens, pot plants, against fences or gates.
Damaging of equipment, buildings or school property is prohibited. If a learner is responsible for any damage, his/her parents will be responsible for fixing/paying the damage.
No writing / scribbling on walls or furniture is allowed.
No learner is allowed in the school hall without supervision or consent.
Playing on stairs, corridors or bathrooms is not allowed.
Running on the stoep is not allowed.
No pushing, bumping, or tripping of another learner is allowed.
The assistants' sleeping quarters is restricted and no learner is allowed there.
Riding on bicycles is not allowed on schoolgrounds, push your bicycle.
No learner is allowed near the bicycle stands.
Bicycles must be locked in the stands.
No learner is allowed to leave the schoolgrounds during break or school hours without permission.
Parents who fetch children during school hours must sign them out at the office.
No parent is allowed in classrooms during school hours.
Class rules
Learners must always be obedient, and they must always obey instructions from educators.
Playing inside classrooms is not allowed, no child is allowed to climb on tables or chairs.
Class rules must always be obeyed.
No learner is allowed in classrooms during break unless there is supervision.
Classrooms must be kept neat.
Working with electronics is only allowed under supervision.
No one is allowed to pull a chair from under another learner.
Homework must be written in a diary / homework book.
If / when a teacher must leave the classroom, class captains will be appointed to take control.
Every teacher may have extra class rules which is displayed clearly on their walls.
Exchanging of classes
Must take place as quiet and quickly as possible.
It is not allowed to go to the bathrooms or to other teachers while exchanging classes.
No learner is allowed to leave the classroom without permission.
A learner must take a pass when leaving the class.
Sickness and injury
No medication may be given.
When a learner is injured, basic first aid will be given.
When a learner is seriously injured or very sick, parents will be contacted.
Only the office personnel or educator may phone parents if a learner is sick.
Learners are not allowed to call their parents when feeling sick. The correct process needs to be followed.
Telephone usage
Learner may not use the school telephone. Should a learner forget sport clothes, money, books, or a project, a call will be charged at R5,00 to call parents to bring the forgotten items to school.
The use of cell phones, smartphones and tablets is not allowed during school hours.
Phones and tablets can be kept in the office or at own risk in schoolbags.
When a phone or tablet is used during school hours, it will be taken, and parents must collect it from the office.
If a phone is lost or stolen, no time will be spend searching therefore, as the phone is at school, at own risk.
School attendance
Compulsory schooling is law for every child up to the age of 15 years, parents will be fined by the Department of Education if a child is absent without valid reason.
When a child is absent for 3 days or more, a medical certificate must be handed in. Parents must contact the school if a child is absent.
If an exam, test, or formal assessment is missed the learner may only do the test/exam/assessment if a medical certificate is handed in.
Announcements
All learners must pay attention and listen
The learners must stop all tasks they are engaged in.
Silence is required when announcements are made.
School days end with prayer over the intercom.
School uniform
School uniform should always be clean, neat and be worn with pride.
Summer wear
Boys:
Shirt: Dark blue with school emblem on the pocket
Pants: Grey, short or long
Socks: Long grey socks
Shoes: Black, lace up shoes
NO TRACKSUITS ARE ALLOWED DURING SPRING OR SUMMER
Girls:
Shirt: Dark blue with school emblem on the pocket
Skirt: Plain grey, pleat-less skirt
Socks: Short grey socks
Shoes: Black, lace up or buckle shoes

Winter wear
Boys:
Shirt: Navy blue with school emblem on the pocket. A navy-blue shirt can be worn underneath the school shirt.
Pants: Long grey pants
Jacket: Navy blue “drimac” with the school emblem (contact school office for embroidery)
Jersey: Navy blue with the school emblem
Tracksuit: Only the school tracksuit with school shoes NO takkies or sneakers
Scarf: Navy blue
Socks: Long grey socks
Shoes: Black, lace up shoes
Girls:
Shirt: Navy blue with school emblem on the pocket A navy-blue shirt can be worn underneath the school shirt
Skirt: Plain grey, pleat-less skirt or long grey pants

General appearance
Girls:
Long hair must be tied neatly with no strands hanging loose.
Hair may not touch eyebrows; no hair dye or highlights is allowed.
Only navy blue, black or yellow hair ribbons. No beads are allowed to be braided into hair.
No gel, hairspray and hair wax is allowed.
No patterns or lines allowed to be shaved in hair or eyebrows.
Only one earring per ear is allowed, silver or gold studs and sleepers only.
Watches and signature ring is allowed.
No other jewelry is allowed, only medical bracelets.
Exceptions will be handled by the SGB regarding religion or cultural beliefs.
No blankets, hot water bottles or earmuffs is allowed.
Boys:
Hair must be short, cut away from collar, ears, and eyebrows.
No patterns or lines allowed to be shaved in hair or eyebrows.
No alternative hairstyles are allowed (mohawks / comb overs).
No gel, hairspray and hair wax are allowed.
No jewelry is allowed, only medical bracelets.
Exceptions will be handled by the SGB regarding religion or cultural beliefs.
No blankets, hot water bottles or earmuffs is allowed.
Drop off and pick up of learners
Leaners wait inside the school premises with supervision at the pick-up zone (Felix Street) for parents or their transport between - 13:30 and 14:00.
After 14:00 learners will wait inside the premises in the waiting area BUT without supervision of an educator. The guard will be in control of the gate.
Gate in Irvine Avenue is closed at 13:45 in the afternoon.
Learners may only cross the road at the marked pedestrian crossing.
No vehicle is allowed inside the school premises.
The school does not accept any responsibility for learners who are hit or injured outside the school ground.
Learners must be careful and know road safety rules.
